Larry Wright
Larry Wright - General Manager - Larry Wright came to DragonRidge Country Club, as the Membership Director, in September of 2005 and was promoted to General Manager in January of 2007. Larry grew up in Denver, Colorado and started in the golf business at the age of fourteen and also began playing tournament golf the same year. He was voted the MVP for the golf team at Northglenn High School and earned a scholarship to Eastern Wyoming College, where he lettered in golf. He graduated from Metro State College in Denver, Colorado with a degree in Business. In 1986, Larry moved to Las Vegas to work on his game and play on professional mini-tours. In 1988, he completed the Jim Colbert Golf Manager’s Training and was then assigned General Manager at Desert Rose Golf Course in Las Vegas. In 1989, he was assigned to manage the Las Vegas Municipal Golf Course and in 1990-1992, he was transferred to the Shandin Hills Golf Course in San Bernadino, California. He also assisted in the opening of the Summerfield Golf Club in Tampa, Florida. After selling his company, Jim Colbert personally selected Larry to return to Las Vegas and operate his only remaining property, Sunrise Country Club. While at Jim Colbert Golf, Larry was voted Manager of the Year for two consecutive years. In 1994, Larry was recruited by Walter’s Golf as their first Director of Operations for a fast growing golf management company, Southwest Golf. In this position, he was in charge of managing several Golf properties and hired and trained all of the General Managers for all Walter’s Golf properties. He later worked at Walter’s Golf as the Director of Sales and Marketing in Las Vegas after Walter’s Golf sold the out-of-state golf company. In between management assignments, he occasionally played the mini-tour golf circuit for several years and is a Class A Certified PGA Golf Professional. Larry and his wife, Karyn, who is a Director in the Clark County School District, enjoy golf, travel, and fine dining in their spare time.
